The Columbia SWCD was created in 1946 and has been serving the citizens of Columbia County ever since! We have 7 board members, elected during the general election, and come from all corners of the county.  From St Helens, to Birkenfeld, to Clatskanie…the whole county is represented.

Our Mission Statement reads: “The Columbia Soil and Water Conservation District has the responsibility for natural resource programs including, but not limited to, the control and prevention of soil erosion, prevention of floodwater and sediment damage, conservation and development of water resources, water quality management, planning, and protection.  The Soil and water Conservation District continually works to promote health, safety and general welfare for the people of Columbia County and the State of Oregon.”
